Writers of the legendary Game of Thrones series David Benioff and DB Weiss will not be working on the next Star Wars trilogy due out in 2022. The news comes after the pair signed an exclusive deal with Netflix.
"We have so many hours a day that it's incredible. We wouldn't be able to do either Star Wars or our Netflix projects if we worked side by side," the duo said in a statement to Deadline.
They also noted that discussing the Star Wars project with creator George Lucas was a "life experience".
"We love Star Wars. When George Lucas 'built' that series, he 'built' us too," Benioff and Weiss said.
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said she would always look forward to their joint collaboration in the future.
"David Benioff and Dan Weiss are incredible storytellers. We hope to work on new Star Wars when they can find time in their busy schedule," she said.
